Sheesh. It’s been a wild few days—Halloween, the Halloween after-party, Saturday house cleaning (shoutout to the 30s gang), Potato Sunday, and now… back to work.

It’s 12:02 AM as I write this, and I just wanted to get some thoughts down. I’m still working on my bigger blog post about music (stay tuned—it’s going to be awesome), but for now, here’s me rambling. This is my first blog, after all, and I’m going to use it!

So, how are you? Everything going well? I hope so. Me? I’m… fine, I think. Honestly, I never know how to answer that. “How are you?” Are you asking about right now or in general? Right now? Pretty tired after a long day of staring at screens—my eyes hurt a bit. In general? Well, I can’t complain. I’ve got a job, working on home renovations, keeping food on the table. So, yeah… fine.

And then there’s the other awkward question: when you see someone after 1-2 years, and they ask, “How have things been? Share something good!” Uh, do you want a two-year recap? Buckle up, baby! Life isn’t like social media—it’s often a string of small, uneventful moments that only seem interesting when you look back on them as a whole.

Take right now, for example: I’m doing a tiny storage “renovation” in my home office. I’m putting up a shelf. Cue applause Thank you, thank you.

Exciting, right? Well, it is for me. This decision came after years of using my office and realizing that a simple shelf would free up so much space (mostly from all those computer parts boxes—warranty stuff, you know). And get this—I’m using some wood that’s been lying around for five years. Finally putting it to good use! Once the shelf is up, I’ll clear the space under my desk, stash my tools there, and have my desk back for other projects. It’s a chain reaction of productivity!

But let’s be real—most people don’t care about that kind of stuff. They want to hear about concerts, trips abroad, exciting life events. Sure, we went on a summer vacation 3 months ago—ate, slept, lounged on the beach. And yeah, we hit up 10-20 concerts last year, which was awesome. After the nightmare that was 2020, it felt great to be back at concerts. But still, talking about everyday stuff can feel awkward.

Why do we always focus on the “awesome” stuff? Why not talk about the new things you started to hate this past year? Like that annoying dish sponge—dude, switch to a Scrub Daddy, it’s a game-changer. Or maybe vent about that irritating person at work. Way more interesting than a generic, “What have you been up to?”

When people ask, “How are you?” why not tell them what’s really bothering you? Like, why are bike seats so small now? Bring back the big, fluffy seats!

Anyway, that’s my rant for today. If you’re still here, thanks for reading. It means a lot.

Stay safe out there.
Commodore Bo, out.
