So.. What is the purpose of having random thoughts?

I believe it’s just your brain trying to figure out how to store all this data in its various departments.

And I also believe that you can help this process by writing it all down.

Well, I’m going to spare you my truly random thoughts, like whether penguins have knees or what it would feel like if our eyes could see more colors. Instead, I’ll write about some life events that you may or may not relate to-maybe they’ll make you smile a bit before you continue with your day.

That’s the purpose of a blog, eh?

So Anyway…

It’s February. And it’s the 10th of February.

While all of January felt like a long and painful year, we’re now almost in the middle of February, and honestly? I don’t like it.

I have a birthday coming up-not mentioning it to brag, but because I want to share a quick story. When I was just a wee lad, around 10 years old, I remember my birthdays always having the worst weather imaginable-snowstorms, -10°C, -20°C, just brutal cold. And most of the time, I was sick on my birthday.

So my memories are wired like this: yep, February is a cold AF month.

But in the last, let’s say, seven years, February has always been… well, warm. There were even days when it reached 20°C, and you could just chill outside in a t-shirt.

Well, for the first time in a long time, this February is brutal. This morning, it hit -12°C, and we are so out of shape for dealing with such temperatures. Never mind the fact that we’re getting older every year and naturally disliking the cold more-just not having this kind of weather for so long has made us soft. Let’s call it that.

But I guess it’s good to have some actual winter weather? Right? I don’t know. I’m confused.

First Concert of the Year – Ad Infinitum, Infected Rain, and Eluveitie

After all my rambling about the cold, guess what? We had our first concert of the year yesterday! And despite how much I love these bands, I didn’t want to leave the house.

And you know what’s the worst? Going to a concert in fluffy, big, heavy jackets, sweaters, and layers, only to enter a packed venue where it gets stupidly hot from all the jumping, screaming, and dancing. And don’t even get me started on the wardrobe situation-a 40-minute wait just to drop off your coat. So, do you miss a band just to go to the wardrobe? Or do you hold onto your coat like an absolute fool?

Do I sound like an old grumpy man?

Good.

Because honestly, I’ve hated this feeling since my teenage years, so at least I’m consistent. Ha-ha.

And the concert? Goes without saying-it was a blast.

I love Eluveitie, and khu-khu, let’s hope their next visit isn’t another 10 years later, like this one. Thanks very much. Oh, and by the way, we have some great outdoor concert venues for when the weather is nice.

Think about it-Swiss/Celtic folk metal, open sky, a forest in the background, people having fun, singing, and dancing.

Yep. It would be great.

The Struggle of Writing as a Side Hobby

I had another random thought a couple of days ago-because, well, the last time I had enough energy to write something down was last week.

And let’s be real, me starting a blog is kind of like a New Year’s resolution.

Here’s the insight I had:

Around New Year’s, I have a few extra days off, I can really recharge, and I can write every day, baby!
Well-not every day, but 4-5 times a week.

Then January comes, and we go back to work. And suddenly, the energy starts slowly depleting.
Then February arrives, and it’s like: “OMG, I want to write right now… but I’d rather sleep.”

And you know what? It’s not fun.

As someone who’s trying to diversify from his 9-to-5 web dev job with more creative hobbies like writing, not having the energy after work can be brutal for the soul.

Vote for: 4-day work week, thank you very much. Last time I checked, it had great reviews. Let’s commit to it, you cowards.

Final Thoughts

And with that, this Week 7 random thoughts update comes to an end.

See you soon with more of me writing about life… and all the random things around it.

Stay safe out there, folks.

Commodore Bo, out.
